Automobile Insurance

The Insurance Exchange is proud to offer the Foreign Automobile Insurance Program, from American International Underwriters - "AIU".  This policy is designed specifically for U.S. and Canadian citizens touring or living in countries outside of North America.  We provide you with insurance that meets foreign regulatory requirements for tourists or expatriates, including Green Cards for Europe.  You may purchase coverage for liability only or liability with with collision, fire, theft, vandalism, and towing, labor or rental reimbursement.  If you are planning to register your vehicle in the foreign country where you will be living, please contact us for details on how to insure your vehicle.

Coverage Available

This policy provides liability and physical damage coverage for automobiles operated by individuals for personal (non-business related) use. Green Cards are provided, at no charge, when required.

Eligibility Requirements

You are eligible for this program if:

You are not a citizen of the country in which you will be traveling or living.
You will keep US license plates on your vehicle.*
The vehicle to be insured is not a sports car or high performance vehicle.++
You are at least 25 years of age and not over 75 years of age.+
You own the vehicle to be used. Click Here if you will be renting a car.
You are not in the Military.
The vehicle is not registered with Diplomatic plates.

*NOTE: If you are registering a vehicle in the foreign country in which you will be traveling or living, please contact us for coverage availability.

+Drivers between the age 21-24 and over 75 may be eligible, please contact us.

Assistance Service

In addition, if you buy your auto policy through us, you automatically receive Assistance, a service designed especially for tourists and expatriates who have travel related questions and/or problems. You may access Assistance from any telephone 24 hours per day. This service can provide you will lost passport and luggage assistance.  Medical and dental emergency referral, and hospital admissions. (Will your health insurance cover you while abroad?)  Emergency message service, emergency legal assistance, emergency cash transfers and advances.  In case you need translation services, virtually all languages are spoken at Assistance.

OPTION 1:  Liability Coverage Only

Vehicles over 20 years old are not eligible for Option 1.

OPTION 2:  Liability Coverage Plus

Liability - $500,000 Combined Single Limit
Fire, Theft, Vandalism ($250 Deductible)
Collision Damage ($500 Deductible)
$2,000 Medical Payments
Vehicles over 15 years old are not eligible for Option 2.

If your vehicle is valued over $50,000, please contact us for eligibility and rates.

Available discounts include:  Companion Policy, Multi-Car, Anti-Theft, and Claims Free (minimum 6 month policy required for claims free discount).

$25.00 Policy Fee will be added to the final premium.

This policy is not available for vehicles registered with Diplomatic plates.

This policy is not available to Military personnel or their dependents.
